§ Dues · Payment portal
Five tiers, three ways to pay — online, by mail, or in person at the hall. Keep your dues current and you keep every benefit that comes with the card.

§ 01 · Why dues matter
Dues fund dispatch, contract negotiation, organizing, training-center subsidies, legal representation, and the Michael J. Dooley Scholarship. Dues do not fund political activity — those come from separate voluntary contributions. If dues lapse, membership standing lapses, and eventually so does the card.
§ 02 · Dues tiers
Every member falls into one of five tiers depending on status. Call the records desk (215·569·1634 · ext 2539) if you're not sure which one applies to you.
Standard journeyman rate. Working members on the active roll. Paid monthly, quarterly, or annually.
Reduced rate for indentured apprentices during the four-year program. Rate adjusts on progression.
Retirees stay on the roll at a significantly reduced rate. Keeps your card active and your voice at the meeting.
For members who've elected early retirement. Same category as retiree with a rate adjusted for pre-Medicare status.
Members drawing disability keep the card at a reduced rate. Call the hall to document the tier switch.

§ 03 · Three ways to pay
Send a check payable to Piledrivers & Divers Local Union 474 to the Philadelphia hall:
Piledrivers & Divers
Local Union 474 · UBC
1803 Spring Garden St
Philadelphia · PA · 19130
Write your UBC member ID on the memo line. Call the records desk if you want confirmation on receipt.
Bring your UBC card, cash, or check to the Philadelphia hall during business hours. Ask for the records desk. Same address as the mail-in option.
Amounts adjust periodically. Call Patricia McGuinness (215·569·1634 · ext 2539) or ask at the next third-Friday meeting.
§ 04 · If you fall behind
The worst thing you can do about lapsed dues is nothing. Membership standing has consequences for dispatch and benefits. There are procedures for members in hardship — but only if you call.
Step 1
Call the records desk
Patricia will pull your file and walk you through what's owed and what's possible.

Step 2
Ask about hardship
Documented hardship — injury, unemployment, family emergency — has options for reduced or deferred dues. Ask.
Step 3
Set a plan
Get on a payment plan. Get current. Get back on the roll. The goal is to keep you in the local.
Step 4
Stay ahead
Once current, set up a recurring cadence — monthly, quarterly, annually — so it never happens again.
§ 05 · Keep the card active
Pay online for speed. Pay by mail if that's your rhythm. Come by the hall if you'd rather talk to someone. Any of the three works.
